making tax digital
get ready for digital tax reporting with MTD
The UK's tax system is undergoing a significant transformation with HMRC's Making Tax Digital (MTD) initiative. Designed to simplify tax compliance, MTD requires businesses and individuals to maintain digital records and submit tax information using compatible software. This shift aims to reduce errors, enhance efficiency, and provide real-time financial insights.
At Even Solutions Accountancy, we're here to guide you through this digital transition, ensuring your business stays compliant and ahead of the curve.
what is MTD
HMRC’s Making Tax Digital (MTD) initiative is modernising UK tax processes for businesses. By simplifying tax compliance, MTD reduces errors and the associated costs and stress.
After launching MTD for VAT in 2019, regulations now extend to all VAT-registered businesses, including those under the VAT threshold as of April 1, 2022.
next phase targets income tax
from April 2026, unincorporated traders and property landlords with gross income over £50,000 will submit quarterly returns, with the threshold lowering to £30,000 in April 2027. The timeline for partnerships remains unconfirmed, but HMRC is running a pilot scheme.Corporate tax will also transition to MTD, with a mandate date yet to be established. A pilot is expected, though no start date has been announced.
stay MTD compliant with the right software
Choosing the correct accounting software is crucial for meeting HMRC’s Making Tax Digital (MTD) requirements. We simplify this decision by recommending the best-fit software, like Xero or FreeAgent, that aligns with your business needs and MTD compliance.
Our team considers factors such as your industry, business size, and financial processes to suggest user-friendly, efficient software that helps you easily manage digital tax submissions. This ensures your business remains compliant while also benefiting from enhanced financial oversight and automation.
